About Dr. S. M. Tuli
Dr. S M Tuli graduated (1955) and post graduated (1958) from Medical College, Amritsar.
Obtained Ph.D. (1966 under Prof. P. K. Duraiswami) from University of Delhi.
He Was Awarded the fellowship of Academy of Medical Sciences (India), & International Fellowship of National Institute of Health US, 1972.
Based upon the laboratory work of Marshall Urist (U.S) Dr.S M Tuli established clinically applicable bone bank at B.H.U., U.C.M.s and at Vimhans PrimaMed (his current institution)
His major contributions have been the evolution of "Middle - Path-Regime" for a treatment of Osteoarticular and Spinal Tuberculosis, use for "Allogeneic Bone Grafts" for reconstruction of bone defects, development of an extra an Articular Operation, Glenoplasty (for shoulder dislocation) and immune - potentiating technique for MDR - TB.
He worked and an Editor of the Indian Journal of Orthopaedics with Varanasi team 1972 to 1787, and he was the president of Indian Orthopaedic Association in 1984.
He has nearly 200 scientific publication and contribution of chapters to Essential Surgery (WHO), Children's Orthopaedics, (Churchill Livingstone), APLEY's Orthopaedics (Holder-Arnold). And Neglected Musculoskeletal Injuries (Jaypee BRO).
ย He is an author of the book Tuberculosis of the Skeletal System (running IV Edition).
He has maintained to be a popular teacher, clinician and less invasive and biological options in orthopaedic therapeutics.
ย He has been strong to the common man, the VIPS, Medical doctors and most prestigiously to many orthopaedic surgeons.
After six decades of the professional journey, he has not lost his passion for the care of Orthopaedic patients and for furthering orthopaedic Education.
