Dr Sarat Surapaneni completed his MBBS from Siddhartha Medical College, Andhra Pradesh.
He acquired his MS from JJMMC, Davangere and completed super-speciality M.Ch training in CVT Surgery from the prestigious P K Sen Department of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery, KEM Hospital and Seth GS Medical College, Mumbai which is one of the premier national institutes for cardiac sciences.
He is also a Fellow of Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons.
Dr Surapaneni carries with him 20 years of exceptional experience in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. He is one of the pioneers and one among the few surgeons in using bilateral mammary arterial grafts in bypass surgeries in India.
He has performed over 9,000 cardiovascular surgeries till date.
Dr Surapaneni performed Telangana’s first successful awake beating heart bypass surgery (surgery without GA or ventilator, done under continuous high thoracic epidural) for a patient suffering from severe Lung disease.
Dr Sarat Surapaneni has a vast experience in the area of beating heart Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG).
Almost all CABGs are done by the beating heart technique which is proven to reduce morbidity of these surgeries.
This technique also has widened the spectrum of patients who benefit from CABG by including a high-risk group.
He specialises in using bilateral mammary arterial conduits.
He has expertise in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS) for Mitral Valve Repair/Replacement, Aortic Valve Replacement in select group of patients.
He is also an expert in handling complex, challenging surgical cases such as aneurysm of aorta, with good outcomes.
Dr Sarat Surapaneni is technically skilled in operating on a large number of patients with heart failure, many of them who presented with low pumping function of the heart, with high level of skill to perform High risk CABGs, re-do CABGs, surgical ventricular restoration procedure wherein the left ventricle of the heart is repaired and reshaped.
These procedures have benefited many patients who were otherwise in very critical condition.
He has experience in Heart transplantation and Assist Devices (VADs) which are giving new lease of life to the end stage heart failure patients.
He has an interest in general thoracic surgery, having treated benign disease of the lung, mediastinum and trachea and is part of Thoracic trauma team and since saved many patients with critical heart and lung injuries.
Dr Sarat Surapaneni pursues his profession seriously and takes great interest in mentoring the junior surgeons with keen interest in research and innovative skills.
