About Dr. Tejinder Kataria

Dr. Tejinder Kataria, Chairperson of the Radiation Oncology Cancer Institute at Medanta, played a pivotal role in establishing the Division of Radiation Oncology since October 2009. Notably, she introduced Indiaโ€™s first Infinity Linear Accelerator with Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) and North Indiaโ€™s inaugural Integrated Brachytherapy Unit. Dr. Kataria has been instrumental in implementing cutting-edge techniques, including stereotactic radiation with micro multi-leaf collimation, Whole Body Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SBRT), Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), and 3-D Conformal Radiation (3D CRT). Prior to Medanta, she initiated the Department of Radiation Oncology at Artemis Health Institute in 2007 and Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute in 1996.

Brachytherapy (Internal Radiation Therapy) : Brachytherapy involves internal radiation therapy for cancer treatment by placing radioactive sources directly within or near the tumor.ย

Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), SRS : Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) deliver precise, high doses of radiation to targeted areas in fewer sessions.ย

Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) : Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) optimizes radiation delivery by adjusting the intensity and shape of the treatment beam during rotation.ย

Image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) : Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) employs imaging techniques to enhance treatment precision by verifying the tumor's location.

Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) : Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) customizes radiation intensity, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues during cancer treatment.
