• Dr. V. P. Bhalla is Senior Director of the Institute for Digestive & Liver Diseases and Head Department of Surgical Gastroenterology at BLK Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi, India.

• He is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College Pune and a Postdoctoral fellow in Surgical Gastroenterology of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi India.

• He has had a long and distinguished career in the Armed Forces Medical Services during which he was a Professor of Surgery and Consultant in GI Surgery at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and Command Hospital Air Force, Bangalore for many years.

• He has been decorated with a commendation by the GOC of the Central Army Command for meritorious service.

• He has trained at some of the best centres in India and abroad and has been a visiting fellow at St Marks Hospital for Coloproctology, London UK and Kaohsiung Memorial Hospital in Kaohsiung Taiwan.

• He is a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Chicago, USA.
